Getting Through Winter with Herbal Support
Elderberry, warming teas, and a few simple habits that help my family through cold New England months.
By Mindful Necessities ·

Living in Massachusetts, winter is not a season — it is a lifestyle. Short days, cold wind, and everyone around you sniffling. Over the years I have built a little winter toolkit that my family leans on every year.
Elderberry, every morning
Elderberry has been used in folk traditions for generations, and our syrup is made in small batches with care. A spoonful in the morning has become a habit in my house from October through March. The kids actually ask for it.
Warm drinks, all day
Hydration is easy to forget when it is cold outside. I keep a pot of tea going in the afternoon. Breath Easy is perfect when the air feels heavy, and Soursop Honey with Spearmint stirred into hot water is a soothing evening treat.
Rest is medicine too
No herb can replace sleep, sunlight, and good food. Get outside when the sun is shining, eat your greens, and go to bed a little earlier. Nature slows down in winter, and it is okay for us to slow down too.
